Caring For Your Jewelry

Article by Jackie Vartanian of PJ Golds The saying goes that a diamond is forever. The truth is that most jewelry will last forever if you know how to care for it the right way. Aside from lasting longer you can also be sure that your pieces will look better with proper care.
  • Store it with Care- where you keep your jewelry is part of caring for it. Avoid the urge to just throw these into one big jewelry box. Doing this will increase the chances of having your stones or metals scratched. Store jewelry in separate containers or pouches.
  • Choose the Right Storage you also want to use the right container for your piece. While it is tempting to use any ordinary box or plastic container-don’t. Jewelry should be stored in a place where it will not be affected by chemicals and natural elements like sunlight and moisture.
  • Clean it Properly- often times the things we wear like perfume, make up and even our natural body oils can stick to jewelry. Before storing your pieces make sure that you wipe it clean with a soft piece of cotton cloth. Also while you may be tempted to clean up your jewelry with tings you find around the house it is better not to. Use the right cleaning substance or bring it to a jeweler for proper cleaning.
  • Wear it with Care- you also need to make sure that you are careful while wearing your jewelry. Avoid doing repairs and rough things while wearing it. Also keep away from extreme temperatures and harsh substances.
